Skincare basics
When purchasing acne-safe skincare always opt for non-toxic to prevent hormone disruption and check for pore-clogging ingredients, like coconut oil, isopropyl myristate, lanolin, cocoa butter, wheat germ oil, lauric acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, algae extract, sodium chloride (salt), octyl stearate, and myristyl myristate.
Hormone-harming ingredients we want to avoid:
Fragrances, parabens, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), formaldehyde, bisphenol A (BPA), ethanolamines (MEA, DEA, TEA), polyethylene glycols (PEGs), and oxybenzone.
The Ultimate Acne Skincare Routine
MORNING:
splash you face with cool water, do a quick gua sha practice, add your zinc sunscreen.
EVENING:
oil cleanse to remove dirt, oil and makeup, follow up with a gel cleanser to remove the oil, add a vitamin C serum and finish with a non-comedogenic moisturizer.
WEEKLY:
clean make-up brushes and pillowcases, do an exfoliating mask (twice a week in your luteal phase), and LED exposure (blue and red are my go-to's)
